I can highly recommend Helen Smith's book "Men On Strike".
I wrote my review of it on Amazon here.
In the light of how I live now, and my experience with marriage, I wrote this poem recently:
--- Eleven By Twelve ---
This - my space - 11 x 12
A small world
Minimal
Frugal
Focusing
No lawns to mow here
No space for another
To disdain me
No pets
No useless quasi-pet to bleed me
No man- cave to be relegated to
No couch to sleep better on
Than a bed never mine
Just an almost-square...
I'm living for light
My hope stays bright
I'm almost there
Dream's clearer than ever
Can almost taste it
The salt
Of the biggest blue
Oh, I've been there before
On a different ticket
This time
It's mine
And I require no more
Convincing as to the sacrifice
The cost - I count it daily
What I'm paying to live alive.
Life - I'll share it with you
But never under your roof
Or by your rules.
