Atlas Shrugged novel hits #10 on Amazon’s bestseller book list

Yesterday’s release of the Atlas Shrugged movie has pushed sales of Ayn Rand’s classic novel into the #10 spot for bestselling books at Amazon.com.

Further, Atlas Shrugged has been in the top 100 for 267 days — longer than any other book in the top 10.

  1. Speaking of know-nothing critics of Miss Rand, here’s one “Byronius”, chiropractor supplies salesman from Sacramento CA: http://new-worlds.org/blog/?p=10722

“”At the dark core of conservative thought, a glittering-eyed atheistic sociopath. Who woulda thunk?”"

Im not a supporter of objectivism –though respect, slightly, the elder Rand’s praise of the US-Con, and Jefferson & Co—, but this is ridiculous.

Lets help put this raving idiot away, and shut his site down

This is a visionary book, with a dead-on criticism of the welfare state and its inevitable outcomes in human degradation and economic collapse. Also, Rand was an assiduous researcher of American economic policy, and her “Anti-Dog-Eat-Dog” rule are enshrined in such notable “Progressive” legislation as the Interstate Commerce Act of 1887 (Compelled well-run railroads to subsidize poorly run railroads, and by 1916 had driven the railroads into bankruptcy under the US’ first socialist/soft Marxist president) and the “Equal Opportunity Act” (the Sherman Anti-Trust Act of 1890, which put into effect the “vertical divestiture” policy under which Hank Rearden had to get rid of all but his Steel business: he was not allowed to control either his sources of iron or ore coal!). Most Americans, and even those who read Atlas Shrugged, have no idea that Rand is describing real policies still in place in this country–and still having devastating economic effects. Here we need to take note of the REAL REASONS for the current 25% unemployment rates!
